RECTOR TUF VISITS PAKISTAN COUNCIL OF RESEARCH IN WATER RESOURCES

A delegation from The University of Faisalabad led by Prof Dr Shoukat Parvez, Rector, TUF met with Dr Muhammad Ashraf, Chairman Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR), Islamabad in his office on December 17, 2019. Both sides discussed the possible future collaborations to enhance Research & Development activities. Rector TUF briefly introduced the activities and achievements of The University of Faisalabad in last 17 years. Chairman PCRWR appreciated the efforts of TUF for contribution in catering the educational and technological needs emerging in the progressive scenario of the country in general and Faisalabad & surrounding areas in particular. Rector TUF and Chairman PCRWR showed keen interest in future possible collaboration between TUF and PCRWR which may include joint research projects, joint execution of publications, usage of research facility and laboratories of PCRWR by students of TUF, Internships of students etc.

Prof Dr Shoukat Parvez proposed a unique model of private-public partnership for joint execution of waste water treatment of industry project and clean drinking water projects in Faisalabad. Prof Dr Shoukat Parvez also visited laboratories and facilities of PCRWR and admired the contribution of PCRWR for maintaining the state of the art laboratories and research facility across Pakistan. Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has played its role as a national research organization by undertaking and promoting research in various disciplines of water sector, more specifically, irrigation, drainage, surface and groundwater management, groundwater recharge, watershed management, desertification control, rainwater harvesting, water quality assessment and monitoring, water conservation and development of water quality improvement technologies, etc.
