INTERNATIONAL WEBINAR ON WORLD SIGHT DAY

In the University of Faisalabad, the Department of Optometry conducted an International Webinar for World Sight Day, which is one of the crucial advocacy and communication days in the eye health calendar on 8th October 2020, titled "Hope for Sight."

The webinar was attended by an international audience and optometry schools from all over the world. The guest speakers were Prof.Dr Asad Aslam Khan (SI), CEO Mayo Hospital, Prof.Dr Eric Papas, UNSW Sydney, Australia, Dr James Wolfsohn Pro-Vice-Chancellor Aston University, UK and Dr Monica Jong from University of Canberra, Australia. "

The purpose of the webinar is to raise Eyesight awareness for everyone. It explains How to protect eyes from harmful elements and what kind of precautions are essential and compulsory to take into account daily. Prof.Dr Eric Papas, UNSW Sydney, Australia explained the notion of "The 20-20-20- Rule to reduce the effects of digital eye strain. "

 

 

The purpose of this webinar is to target the audience who are habitual of using computer, phone or tablet screens for an extended period. Prof.Dr Eric Papas said that spending a long period in front of digital gadgets can strain the eyes. He further said that the use of 20-20-20 rules could prevent this issue. For that, all you need to do is to avoid the screen after every 20 minutes; look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Dr James Wolfsohn Pro-Vice-Chancellor Aston University, UK and Dr Monica Jong from the University of Canberra, Australia describe tips for preventing eye strain. During the Website, the current IMI consensus report is also explained by Dr Monica Jong.

 

 
 

The Department of Optometry also conducted the first-ever 3MT competition of postgraduate students at a national level.
