TUF Observes Anesthesia Day, Emphasizing Crisis Management and Teamwork in the Operation Theatre
The Department of Professional Health Technologies at TUF commemorated Anesthesia Day at Saleem Wing, engaging students of Anesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology in an educational initiative focused on patient safety, emergency preparedness and effective teamwork in critical healthcare settings.
The event featured an insightful lecture by Dr Sana Ashraf from Madinah Teaching Hospital, who addressed the topic “Crisis Management in the Operation Theatre: Teamwork Under Pressure.” Her session highlighted the critical role of effective communication, coordinated teamwork, rapid decision-making and situational awareness in managing emergencies within the operation theatre.
Dr Sana emphasized that successful crisis management extends beyond clinical knowledge and technical expertise. It requires healthcare professionals to remain composed under pressure, communicate effectively and collaborate seamlessly to ensure timely and appropriate responses to critical situations. She underscored that early recognition of emergencies and a coordinated team response are essential to safeguarding patients and improving clinical outcomes.
