World Mental Health Day 2026: Lived Experiences Heard, Real Voices, Real Change

The Department of Psychology and the TUF Psychological Health and Wellbeing Society celebrated World Mental Health Day on 16 October 2026 at Saleem Wing under the theme “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change.”

Organized by Focal Person Ms Mariam Farooq under the supervision of Dr Saleem Abbas, Head, Department of Psychology, the event aimed to raise awareness, challenge stigma surrounding mental health and encourage help-seeking behaviour among students.

The program featured an insightful panel discussion in which distinguished guests explored lived experiences, mental health stigma, youth stress and effective coping strategies. A compelling thematic skit by students highlighted how kindness and empathy can make a life-changing difference, while a documentary screening brought real-life mental health stories to the forefront.

Other key activities included a poster competition promoting awareness, support and wellbeing, alongside a free on-campus Psychological Testing and Counselling Camp for students.

Through these impactful initiatives, TUF reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a compassionate, inclusive and supportive campus environment where mental health is valued, voices are heard and seeking help is encouraged.
