Seminar on “ Teachings of Hazrat Ghaus-ul-Azam (R.A)”

The University of Faisalabad organizes seminars every year about the teachings of Sayyidena Ghaus-ul-Azam Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani. Fourth such seminar was held on April 10, 2008 in Saleem Auditorium of the university. The seminar was presided over by Justice (Retd) Mian Nazir Akhtar while Mr. Fareedullah Khan Managing Director, National Energy Conservation Center, Ministry of Environment Islamabad was the Chief Guest.Mian Muhammad Hanif, Chairman Board of Governors, Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, Rector, Prof Dr. Zuhoor Ahmad Azhar, Director General, Dr Irshad –ul-Haq Principal UMC, faculty members, students and a large number of notables from the city attended the seminar. Dr. Majeedullah Qadri, ChairmanDepartment of Petroleum Technology University of Karachi and Prof. Dr. Jalaluddin A. Noori , Dean, Faculty of Islamic Studies, University of Karachi, presented their “Muqalas” . Mr. Fareedullah Khan and Justice (Retd) Mian Nazir Akhtar expressed their views about the teachings of Hazrat Ghaus-ul-Azam (R.A) and appreciated the efforts of university management for organizing a series of seminars regarding the teachings of Hazrat Ghaus-ul-Azam (R.A). They admired the unique distinction of the university for organizing regularly such religious events and seminars in the memory of “Sahaba-e-Kram” and Saints . While expressing his views, Mian Muhammad Hanif thanked the participants and said that University management would continue to organize such seminars in future also. In the end the guests were presented university mementos. The programme was concluded with Drood-o-Salam and prayer by Maulana Atta Ul Mustafa Noori. |

Vice Chancellor of UHS visits Medical Faculty of The University of Faisalabad
|
Medical Faculty of The University of Faisalabad is affiliated to the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore. The UHS has conducted Annual and Supplementary examinations of all the MBBS classes. Recently Prof. Dr. Malik Hussain Mubashar visited TUF to see the physical facilities of Medical faculty including its affiliated teaching Hospital. Prof. Dr. Irshad ul Haq, Principal, University Medical College gave a briefing about medical faculty and facilities at The University of Faisalabad .Dr. Malik Hussain Mubashar, during his address to the medical faculty, appreciated the laboratory, hospital facilities and quality of education for the MBBS programme. He appreciated the performance of the students in the examination especially the distinctions won by the students in the subjects of Community Medicine, Behavioural Sciences, Forensic Medicine, Anatomy, Biochemistry and Physiology. He however suggested that there was a dire need of setting up Department of Medical Education (DME) in all the Medical Colleges of the Punjab and expected that The University of Faisalabad should take a lead in establishing this department. |

Seminar on Energy Efficiency
|
The University of Faisalabad and National Productivity Organization (NPO) Ministry of Industries jointly organized a one day seminar on “Energy Efficiency in Textile Sector”. The guest speaker was Mr. Pawan Kumar an international expert of Asian Productivity Organization and Director National Productivity Council of India. The services of Mr. Pawan Kumar were arranged by NPO at the request of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) for conducting energy audit of leading textile mills e.g. Kohinoor Textile Mills Choonian Lahore, Urooj Spinning Mills Chunian Lahore and Shadman Spinning Mills near Shah kot Faisalabad. Final year textile engineering students of The University of Faisalabad also attended this energy audit conducted by Mr Pawan Kumar. Mr Pawan Kumar in his address in the University stressed the need of energy audit of the industrial sector in view of the current energy crisis faced by the industry. He was confident that the energy savings to the tune of 20 to 25 % can be achieved through best practices and by using energy efficient equipments. The lecture was attended by local industrialists who requested The university of Faisalabad to organize such seminars on regular basis. |

ASEAN Ambassadors and High Commissioner showed keen interest in promoting the mutual cooperation in education sector among the The University of Faisalabad and Universities of ASEAN countries particularly in the fields of Health Sciences, Electrical Engineering and Management Studies. They visited the different departments and labs of the University and appreciated its state-of-the-art infrastructure and high standard of education. | Mr. Maqbul Ilahi Malik, Provincial Minister of Punjab for Population Welfare and Human Rights visited The University of Faisalabad on January 30, 2008. Prof. Dr. Abdul Majeed Rector of the University and other faculty members gave him a warm welcome. Mr. Maqbul Ilahi Malik addressed the students. Later, he
visited the different departments and labs of the University and appreciated its state-of-the-art infrastructure and high quality of education.
Dr Abdul Majeed presented the University Memento to Mr. Maqbul Ilahi. Guest also planted a sapling in the University lawn.

| All Pakistan Mushaera on “Munaqib-e-Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S) “was held in the University Main Campus on January 31, 2008. The program was arranged under the supervision of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences to present tribute to great “Shahadat” of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S). Prof. Arif Ali Zaidi Vice Chancellor, G.C University Faisalabad presided over this program.

All Faisalabad Qira’ aat Competition-2007
|
Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies of The University of Faisalabad and University College for Women organized “All Faisalabad Qira’ aat Competition-2007” on 6th December 2007 in Saleem Auditorium of The University. The participants were the girl students of 9th and 10th classes in the city and district of Faisalabad.
The programme was presided over by Syed Irshad Ahmad Arif, Deputy Chief Editor, Daily Nawa-i-Waqat, Lahore while Prof Anwar-ul-Haq, Chairman Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Faisalabad was the Chief Guest.
Hafiza Qaria Rubina, Qari Zafar Ahmad Raza and Qari Noor Alim were the Judges. 31 students from different schools participated in this competition.
First Position: Mafia Saeed, Govt Girls High School Nur Pur
Second Position: Hafiza Sania Saleem, Govt M C Girls Higher Secondary School Samanabad.
Third Position: Hafiza Mehwish Naz, Allama Iqbal Girls High School, Zulfiqar Colony
First, second and third position holders were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 10,000 , Rs. 6,000 and Rs. 4,000 respectively along with books and certificates.

Fashion & Textile Exhibition-2007
|
The University of Faisalabad organized two day “Fashion & Textile Exhibition-2007” at the University Main Campus on November 30, & December 1, 2007.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Mrs Umar Draz Khan and Mrs Ejaz Hashmat Khan.
In this exhibition the students of the Department of Apparel Technology and Fashion Design of the University displayed various articles including calligraphic material, textile products, garments and made ups based on their class assignments. The Chief guest and visitors visited different stalls and appreciated the creative capabilities of the students of the University. |

The University of Faisalabad signs MoU with International Islamic University for academic cooperation.
|
The University of Faisalabad (TUF) and International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) have agreed to enter into and execute a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for academic cooperation between the two universities.
Accordingly, both the universities will cooperate with each other in the areas of research & development, faculty exchange, faculty & staff training and academic programmes in various disciplines particularly in Law & Shariah, Management Studies and Electronic Engineering. Both shall identify viable areas/subjects of interest for conducting academic programmes and shall involve their research and academic staff to accomplish specific research projects. Both the institutions shall also organize periodic seminars, workshops, symposium and conferences and other training programmes for mutual benefit.

Accreditation Committee Govt of Punjab Visits the University

On June 9, 2007, Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Iqbal Chairman, Accreditation Committee Govt of Punjab visited the University of Faisalabad along with other members. These members were Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Akram Vice Chancellor University of Engineering & Technology Lahore, Dr Abdul Rauf Ex Rector Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering & Technology Swabi, Dr Shahid Amjad Chaudhry Rector Lahore School of Economics Lahore, The Secretary Govt of Punjab Law & Parliamentary Affairs Department, Dr Riaz Ahmad Qureshi Advisor HEC and Additional Secretary (Academic) Govt of Punjab Education Department. They had a meeting with Mian Muhammad Hanif Chairman Board of Governors, Prof Dr Abdul Majeed Pro Rector, Maj Retd) Izhar-ul-Ahsan Registrar, Ms Zahida Maqbool Deputy Regsitrar, Heads of Departments and Deans of faculties. The members were given a briefing about Madina Foundation, The University of Faisalabad and Madina Teaching hospital.
After the meeting Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Iqbal visited different departments and labs of the University. He appreciated the excellent infrastructure and facilities being provided in the University. Later, Prof Dr Abdul Majeed presented University Memento to Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Iqbal.

20 Day Fehm-ul-Quran Course (for ladies) in The University
|
20 Day Fehm-ul-Quran course (for ladies) is being organized in the University of Faisalabad from June 11, 2007. In this session courses of Fehm-ul-Quran, Hadith Mubarika, Qiraat, Computer and spoken English have been arranged for the ladies under the supervision of Prof Dr Zahoor Ahmad Azhar Dean Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences. . On completion of course certificates will be awarded to the students.

First Convocation of The University of Faisalabad, June 5, 2007
|
Lt. Gen. Khalid Maqbool Governor of Punjab, addressing the 1st Convocation of the University of Faisalabad said that The University of Faisalabad, sponsored by the Madina Foundation, has developed its structure and curriculum of various degree programmes quite successfully in a short period of four years. This University is serving the cause of education in the region as well as attracting young and talented students from all over Pakistan.
Governor further said that the programmes being offered in the University are to train young students in the emerging disciplines of science and technology as well as social sciences, with the aim of providing job oriented education to satisfy the needs of Business, Industry, Banking and other sectors of Economy. Women are a significant part of our human capital base. I would like to see that training courses for women besides regular degree programmes are organized so that this important segment of our society can play an effective role in the development of the country. Governor also congratulated the passing out graduates of the University. Earlier, Governor inaugurated new “Medical Complex” in the University Campus.
While expressing his views, Mian Muhammad Hanif Chairman Board of Governors said that the founder of MadinaFoundation Haji Muhammad Saleem (Late) had a vision for Charity, Education and Industry. Accordingly, the institution of higher education was set up in Faisalabad to help the common man to have access to higher education. Mian Muhammad Hanif also appreciated the services and vision of the Patron of The University of Faisalabad, Lt Gen (R) Khalid Maqbool, Governor of the Punjab to facilitate the public and private sector Universities. He also said that The University provides an access to the students to international education based on merit and their potential for motivation to excel. He said that the Management of this University will continue to provide every support to the University to achieve the objectives of quality education with emphasis on research and development to make it a leading institution of higher learning in the country.
Later, Professor Dr Abdul Majeed Vice Chancellor of the University briefed about the performance of the university during the last four years. He said that the In order to ensure quality of education, schemes of studies of various programmes in the University are reviewed regularly in the light of the guidelines provided by Higher Education Commission, PEC and PM & DC and are updated to incorporate latest developments to meet local and global requirements. He said, it is matter of great honour that the University has been upgraded to Category ‘W’ by the HEC.
Later 225 graduates of the University for the Years 2004, 2005, 2006 were awarded degrees. 9 graduates were awarded with gold medals and 9 with distinction certificates for their excellent performance in education and co-curricular activities.
Dr Muhammad Akram Chaudhry, Vice Chancellor, University of Sargodha also graced the occasion.
