TUF celebrated a ceremony in the green lawn of Saleem Campus on 14th August. Prof Dr Riaz ul Haq Tariq, Rector, hoisted the national flag and national anthem was listened. Later, students sang different national songs. Worthy Rector, in his address highlighted the importance of the day and advised the students to devote themselves for their studies to materialize the dreams of Quaid e Azam (RA) for a prosperous Pakistan. The ceremony was ended with special prayer for the stability of Pakistan and particularly for the rehabilitation of flood victims.
Closing Ceremony of “Fehmul Quran and Computer Course”
The University of Faisalabad in addition to providing facilities for professional education lays equal emphasis on teachings of Islam. Every year TUF organizes a Fehm ul Quran course with Seerat-Un Nabi, Hadith, Fiqh, Computer skills and spoken English courses in both the campuses. This year it was 5th successive free course for common people and with a free pick and drop facility to the 418 female students. On the closing ceremony at Saleem Campus Prof Dr Riaz Ul Haq Tariq was Chief Guest while Dr Muhammad Iqbal, Head School of Pharmacy was guest of honour. The certificates and special gifts were distributed amongst the students on successful completion of 10 weeks course.
Rana M Farooq Ahmad Khan, Federal Minister for Textile Industry Visits TUF
A seminar on “Compliance issues of textile industry in perspective of WTO “ was jointly organized by the School of Textile Engineering of TUF and Ministry of Textile Industry. Rana Muhammad Farooq Saeed Khan, Federal minister for textile industry was the Chief Guest while Haji Muhammad Ishaq, Provincial Minister of Revenue & Relief Punjab was guest of honour. The seminar was presided over by Prof Dr Riaz ul Haq Tariq. Federal Minister also inaugurated new Textile Engineering Labs in the University.
WHO Maternal Neonatal & Child Health (MNCH) officer in Pakistan visits UM&DC
Dr Ahmed Shadoul WHO Maternal Neonatal & Child Health (MNCH) officer in Pakistan & Dr Khizar Ashraf (Focal Person in Pakistan for Nutrition-WHO) visited (University Medical & Dental College) The University of Faisalabad on 18th May 2010. The team was given a presentation on mortality figures regarding infants and mothers dying during child birth. In developing countries 538000 women die during child birth, in other words every 10 minutes a women dies. It was found that major cause of deaths in mothers was bleeding and infection which makes around 40 % of total maternal deaths. These are preventable causes and Western countries have markedly reduced their maternal and infant mortality figures due to strong Political commitment, Education and Better Health Services. Pakistan stands among the one five of countries having highest Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR). It was informed that 500 maternal deaths per 100000 live births per year mean 50,000 maternal morbidity and illness. In Pakistan more than 20% babies are low birth weight and this is serious issue as it reflects the health of the mother who is already anemic and malnourished. Dr Shadoul in his address appreciated the Team of University Medical & Dental College Faisalabad for bringing up the issue with some suggestions. He reiterated that WHO was fully committed to reduce MMR & IMR in Pakistan MNCH program and would like to join hands with University Medical & Dental College Faisalabad to facilitate the efforts to reduce MMR & IMR in Faisalabad. He was given presentation by Prof Dr Ehsan Ul Haq & Dr Zahid Masood. Dr Khizar (WHO focal person for Nutrition in Pakistan) also showed deep interest to facilitate the Medical College and Hospital in their efforts to address the issue of Malnutrition in children. He added that over 47% of Pakistan children are malnourished. He said that he will make certain arrangements in terms of capacity building and other possible assistance. Participants included Prof A G Rehan, Dr Sadia Hameed, Dr Mubashra Naz, Dr Ayesha Tanveer and Dr Aneela Amber representing faculty of, Gynecology and Peadiatrics departments from Madina Teaching Hospital. Dr Ahmed Shadoul was presented University memento by Prof Dr A G Rehan.
TUF observes World Mother’s Day
World Mother’s day was observed in Saleem Campus of the University on May 11, 2010. Variety of programs including, poster completion among the students and tableau show were held. Students also sang different songs and poems to pay tribute to the dignity of the mother. In poster completion, Kaneez Fatima from DPT secured first position. Ammama Aslam and Bushra Ansari from Pharm D got second and third positions respectively while Tahira Yasmin from MA Islamic Studies and Shaheera Ajmal from DPT both got consolation prize.
Ambassador of Indonesia visits TUF
His Excellency Mr Ishak, Latukonsina, Indonesian Ambassador, in Pakistan visited The University of Faisalabad, Saleem Campus on May 10, 2010. During the meeting with Mian Muhammad Hanif, Chairman Board of Governors, TUF, Prof Dr Riaz ul Haq Tariq, Rector, Maj (Retd) Izhar ul Ahsan , Registrar and other senior faculty members Mr Ishak, Latukonsina expressed that Pakistan and Indonesia have deep rooted religious, cultural and economic relations. These associations can be more strengthened by promoting the relations in the field of education. In this context, he showed keen interest in signing of MOU between The University of Faisalabad and Jakarta Medical University, Indonesia. Mr, Ishak, Latukonsina visited different departments and labs of the University. While speaking on the occasion, he said “ The professional quality education in the fields of Sciences & Technology and Medical being imparted in The University of Faisalabad is commendable and such academic institutions are direly needed to set up in other Muslim countries also. Mr Ishak, Latukonsina was presented the University memento; he also planted a sapling in the university lawn.
TUF observes World Red Crescent/ Red Cross Day
TUF observed World Crescent/Red Cross Day on May 8, 2010. Different programs were held at both the campuses. In Saleem Campus a rally was arranged from Madina Teaching Hospital to Sargodha Road, largely attended by senior faculty members and students. This year the theme of World Crescent/Red Cross Day was urbanization. Students displayed different banners reflecting views about the problems created by urbanization and commending the welfare services of Red Crescent/Red Cross all over the world. In this context, a poster competition was also held among the students of different schools of TUF. In the competition, Amina Habib (BDS) won first position while Abeera Zafar (MBBS) and Amna Arshad Khan, stood second and third respectively. Shaheera Ajmal from DPT got consolation prize.
Naqeeb-ul-Ashraaf Syed Abdul Rehman Al-Gilani from Bagdad Sharif visits TUF
Naqeeb-ul-Ashraaf Syed Abdul Rehman Al-Gilani from Bagdad Sharif visited TUF and attended the seminar on “Hazrat Ghos e Azam (RA)” as the chief guest. Mrs Abdul Rehman Al-Gilani also accompanied. He addressed the students in Saleem Campus, visited different departments and labs and also planted a sapling in the university lawn. Addressing in the seminar on “ Hazrat Ghos e Azam (RA)” held in Amin Campus, he stressed the Muslim countries to make advancement in the fields of science and technology to face the challenges of globalization. He appreciated the contribution of The University of Faisalabad in this context. In the seminar Mian Muhammad Hanif, Chairman Board of Governors, Prof Dr Riaz ul Haq Tariq, Rector, Prof Dr Zuhoor Ahmad Azhar, Dr Hamayun Abbas Shams, Dr Sana Ullah Alazhari and Justice (Retd) Mian Nazir Akhtar expressed their views on the teachings of Hazrat Ghos e Azam (RA). In the end, the guests were awarded with University mementos.
Quranic Calligraphy Exhibition
“Qura’nic Calligraphy Exhibition” was organized at TUF Amin Campus on March 18, 2010. The exhibition was jointly organized by TUF School of Management Studies & Naqsh Artists Welfare Association Faisalabad. In the exhibition, rare calligraphic samples of Qura’n were displayed. The purpose of event was to introduce the Islamic Calligraphic styles to the peoplea and also create awareness about the Teachings of Holy Quran. The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, Advisor to Chairman BOG, TUF and visited by large number of students, faculty members and other dignitaries of the city.
Seminar on “Seerat un Nabi (SAW)”
The University of Faisalabad organized a one day seminar on “Seerat un Nabi (SAW)” in Amin Campus on March 5, 2010.. The program was presided over by Dr Noor Ahmad Shahtaz, Director, Sheikh Zayed Islamic Center, Karachi. Prof Dr Zuhoor Ahmad Azhar, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences (TUF) and Prof Abdul Sattar Ghori expressed their views on the character, personality and greatness of Hazrat Mohammad (SAW). The chief guest also appreciated TUF administration for arranging such a gracious ceremony on “Eid Millad un Nabi (SAW).

Annual Sports Festival was held at The University of Faisalabad from February 15 to 25, 2010. Prof Dr Riaz ul Haq Tariq, Rector, TUF was the Chief Guest in the closing ceremony. On this occasion, final rounds of different sports and athletic competitions were held among the students. TUF Second Convocation- 2009
Second Convocation of The University of Faisalabad was held at the Saleem Campus of The University on 16 th November 2009. Honourable Mr Salmaan Taseer, Governor Punjab was the chief guest. Large number of distinguished guests including Vice Chancellors of different universities, members of District Government, office bearers of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, TUF faculty members, students, graduates, parents of the graduates and other notables from different walks of life were present in the convocation The convocation began with the recitation from the Holy Quran followed by Naat-e-Rasool Maqbool (SAW).
Mr Salmaan Taseer, Governor of the Punjab and Patron of the University, while addressing the convocation, appreciated the services being rendered by T he University of Faisalabad in the field of education. He said that the University had rapidly grown in a short span of time. The University has raised its standard to a position among the top academic centers of excellence of the country. He also wished success to the graduates and expressed his hope that they would utilize their skills and knowledge for the welfare and economic wellbeing of the people of their country.
Prof Dr Malik Hussain Mubbashar, VC University of Health Sciences, Lahore, in his address, appreciated the excellent results of the students of University Medical & Dental College, Faisalabad in MBBS professional examinations conducted by UHS and hoped that UM&DC will soon be counted in the top medical colleges of the country.
While expressing his views, Mian Muhammad Hanif Chairman Board of Governors said that the founder of Madina Foundation Haji Muhammad Saleem (Late) had a vision for Industry, Service and Education. Accordingly, the institution of higher education was set up in Faisalabad to help the common man to have access to higher education. He said that the Management of this University will continue to provide every support to the University to achieve the objectives of quality education with emphasis on research and development, to make it a leading institution of higher learning in the country.
Later, Prof Dr Riaz ul Haq Tariq , Rector of the University briefed about the performance of the University. He told that all the academic programs of the University are duly recognized by Higher Education Commission, PEC, Pharmacy Council of Pakistan and PM & DC and are updated to incorporate latest developments to meet local and global requirements. The University is imparting education to more than 2000 students in deferent fields including health sciences, engineering and technology, management studies and arts and social sciences.

Towards to end of the ceremony the Governor awarded degrees to a number of 641 graduates of The University of Faisalabad and University Medical & Dental College. In addition, first, second and third position holder graduates were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals along with distinction certificates for their extra ordinary performance in education and co-curricular activities. Mr Salmaan Taseer and Dr Malik Hussain Mubbashar were presented University mementos. Lastly, the Governor also planted a sapling in the University lawn.
