Registration Process

  • Every candidate will fill in the Registration form, pay registration fee at the time of first admission to the University, and a fee for renewal of registration if he/she is readmitted after having been off the rolls of the University for any Reason.
  • All students are required to fulfill their registration & enrolment formalities within the due date. Late enrollment forms will not be accepted unless otherwise approved by the Head of the Department with late fee.
  • Students who register and later decide not to attend classes should withdraw from their classes prior to the end of the first week of classes.
  • Registered number once assigned to a student shall not be changed on his readmission to the University, and it shall be quoted in all documents concerning the student.
  • Registration forms must be filled in with care. Incomplete or incorrect forms will not be entertained.
  • Management retains the right to withdraw any course or change its timing or instructor. Student can withdraw his/her registration from the said course only if there is any time clash with any other course he/she is registered in.
  • A course can be offered only if the number of fee paid students in the course is not less than 10.

Definition of a Credit Hour

  • One credit hour means that a particular course must have at least one hour of class contact per week. Hence a course of 3 semester credit hours will be taught three hours per week.
  • If any course that is mixture of both theory and practical then practical credit hours will be doubled in terms of contact hours.
  • For courses requiring field work such as visiting the organizations, interviewing the executives, collecting data etc 3 hours of field work will be equal to 1 hour of class contact.
  • Internships must require a minimum of 48 hours of work over the duration of one semester.

Student Academic Load

The academic load of full time students may not exceed six courses per regular semester except in some special disciplines. Maximum 18 credit hours courses can be enrolled in a semester except in some special disciplines.
The maximum academic load for students with less than a 3.50 cumulative grade point average shall be eighteen hours per semester except for senior students who will be permitted to carry a one-hour overload during the last semester if the one-hour overload will complete graduation requirements.

  • Students holding a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or above may request permission of the authority of their department to schedule up to 21 hours in a semester.

Add/Drop Courses

  • No add/drop of a course is allowed in the first semester. However, in onward semesters, students are allowed to add and drop a particular course within the duration of course enrollment. If student wants to drop any course after the commencement of classes, he/she can drop with in the two week after commencement of classes.
  • Maximum two courses can be dropped in one semester within two weeks of a semester.
  • No such requests are entertained after due date. A student registered in a program may not Add & Drop a course in the University until he/she has obtained the permission from the Head of Faculty responsible for the program.
  • Forms for processing add-drops are available with Student Information Centre.
  • The course drop process is completed when the course drop form has been signed by the academic advisor and the Accounts office. The Accounts office will sign all copies; give the student one copy; retain one copy; and send one copy to the Registrar for record.

Inter Program Transfer

  • A student registered in a program cannot be transferred to another program in the university until he/she has obtained the permission of the Registrar’s office/ approved by the concerned Heads of Faculty.
  • Permission of transfer will be given in writing using the form provided for this purpose.
  • Before permission to transfer is given, both the student and Head of Faculty responsible for the program to which he/she seeks to transfer shall give due consideration to the student’s ability to meet the requirement of that program.
  • The credit transfer arrangement between bachelor and master programs shall not be allowed but transfer from Masters Program offered in the morning to Executive program or vice versa shall be allowed after fulfillment of the requirements of the program.
  • Whenever a student’s application to transfer to another program has been approved and all requirements related to such transfer satisfactory fulfilled, the relevant program authority shall inform the concerned department and forward the original documents to the student’s personal file.

Credit Transfer Policy
Students who have completed part of their study, in another institution, will be  accepted for admission by The University of Faisalabad in accordance with the following conditions:

  • Each student seeking admission on transfer basis shall submit an application on the prescribed form along with original official transcript issued by the previous institution(s).
  • He/she must have been registered as a regular or part-time student in a chartered university of the country. For undergraduate studies, it is essential that all degree courses which comprise 8 semesters, at least 4 must be completed in The University of Faisalabad. This means that transfer of credits can be granted only for 4 semesters.
  • The committee of the Department in which the student is seeking admission will examine his credentials and grant exemption in only those courses which it considers appropriate for completing the degree at the University.
  • If the committee recommends the student for admission on transfer, he will have to fulfill all the formalities as listed for the regular students, including payment of fees. He will have to pay registration fee at the time of admission.
  • Only after payment of fees a transfer student shall be entitled to attend classes. Deficiencies, if any, shall be completed beyond 4 semester courses completed at The University of Faisalabad, as recommended by the committee. Such deficiencies can be completed as may be advised by the Department.
  • The student completing his study on transfer from other institution's) shall be issued transcript of The University of Faisalabad only for those courses which have been completed at the University.
  • Courses completed at other institution's) prior to transfer shall be shown in the same transcript issued by the previous institution.
  • On completion of all requirements, the degree will be awarded by The University of Faisalabad.

Semester or Permanent Withdrawal from University

  • A student who finds it necessary to be excused from registration in a program in any semester must formally request a leave of absence from the Faculty. The Head of the Faculty and Registrar office must approve leave application.
  • When a student returns from a leave of absence, current program of studies, Fee and Policies will be applicable.
  • Students who make an initial enrolment at The University of Faisalabad but do not return the following semester will have one year valid admission status provided they left in good standing.
  • Students may withdraw from the University at any time during the scheduled registration periods.
  • In case a student leaves the University, refund of fee paid is possible as per following policy:-
Before the start of Class 100% (except Admission fee)
Within one week of the start of classes 80% of refundable (except Admission fee)
After 0-3 week of the start of classes 40% (tuition fee)
After 04 weeks  Nil

Same policy applies to semester withdrawal but if student wants to join in the next semester and he has withdrawn the fee then he/she has to pay again full fee in the next semester.

  • Withdrawal Form from University can be obtained from Student Information Centre.
  • Grades earned in courses official withdrawal from the University will not be affected by that withdrawal. Classes for which the student has withdrawn will remain on the student's transcript with a "W" grade for withdrawal. Once the withdrawal process is completed, the classes from which the student withdrew will not affect the student's GPA.

Double Specialization

A student may concurrently fulfill the requirements of two subject majors provided the student has the permission of the HOD. Upon successful completion of the requirements of both majors, one degree is awarded.

  • Students have to study required number of courses for each major as specified by the Faculty concerned.
  • The two majors earned concurrently under one degree will be noted on the transcript.
  • For the second specialization, registration form must be filed with the Faculty to declare two specializations.

Thesis / Project Report

  • A thesis/project is a formal and systematic discourse or treatise advancing an original point of view as a result of search.
  • Program leading to a Master degree will normally require 06 credit hours of thesis/project course work.
  • Thesis can be substituted with two courses.
  • Students shall be taking thesis/course work in their graduating year or as may be prescribed. The process will be followed as per the criteria set by the concerned Faculty.
  • The maximum time limit for thesis completion is not more than 01 year; otherwise the student will not be eligible for degree.
  • Thesis should be submitted in the format provided by the University.
  • Thesis must be screened by a panel of examiners, before its acceptance, for the award of the degree.
